Custom German decks you can share or keep private

Build a deck from your chapter, practise it with spaced repetition, or import a published community deck as your own private copy.

A WortGo deck is a named set of German cards with an optional CEFR level. You can create one, add words from the catalogue or from a WortGo XML/JSON file, and review that deck on its own schedule.

Visibility has three states. Private stays with you. Share sends it to existing WortGo users by email. Public goes through admin review before it appears in the marketplace.

  • Filter decks by CEFR level from A1 to C1.
  • Share a private deck with classmates who already have accounts.

Your daily queue is not the same as your deck

Deck review is scoped: open a deck and you practise those cards. The global auto-add queue is separate. It fills from the system word bank at your level, using Auto-add, a queue threshold, and a daily new-words limit.

Signup defaults are a queue threshold of 30 and a daily new-words limit of 15. Auto-add does not pull words out of your custom decks.

Textbook chapters

There is no built-in catalogue of Menschen, Schritte, or Aspekte decks. If your class uses a textbook, you create the deck from that chapter yourself, or share one privately with the class.

Can I import an Anki deck?

Not today. Import is WortGo XML or JSON only. Rebuild the set in WortGo or paste cards into that format.

Can I share a deck with my class?

Yes, with people who already have WortGo accounts, by email. Public listing requires admin approval.

How many new words per day is sensible?

The default daily new-words limit is 15. Raise or lower it in settings. A smaller daily intake is easier to keep on a spaced-repetition schedule.
